Homeland Security Office

The latest news from the

Homeland Security Office

is the adjustment on the nations threat level. A ban on liquids and gels in carry on baggage in all air flights. There are more stringent security checks which is making passengers more of a delay in flights. Many people are upset by this but there has to be security checks to ensure the passengers a safe flight. We have to have some form of security or we all may as well put up our hands and surrender to the terrorists. Terrorism is a big problem today and the Homeland Security office has to decide what is the best way to protect those who decide to fly to their destinations.

On August 25, 2006, President Bush addressed the media on recent terrorist threats. President Bush claims his top priority is the safety and security of the American people. While some people may question his tactics and motives, he is moving ahead with his plans. There were more arrests of terrorists recently which shows that some part of the plans are working.

While the Homeland security Office is working to keep the country safe, we as individuals can work to keep our homes and families safe here in our own homes. There are safety measures we can make at home to help keep our families and personal property safer. There are many reliable security systems and security devices we can purchase to ensure that safety.

There are security alarm systems, security cameras, motion detector lights, video surveillance systems, deadbolt locks for windows and doors, security lawn signs and window and door decals, remote controls for lights, televisions, and radios, to set them to come on and go off at a designated time to make the intruders thing someone is at home. In most instances, the intruder will not break in if they think someone is at home. They normally are not there to hurt anyone, they want your valuables. Make it as difficult as you possibly can for them to gain entry into your home. The security alarm system will in most cases, scare the intruders away before they have a chance to enter the home. Our families are very important to us and we must do our part to make them as safe as we can while they are in their homes. If we can't feel safe at home, we can not feel safe anywhere.

While the Homeland Security Office is doing what they can to protect our country and its citizens, we as individuals can do what we can to protect our homes and families as well. Begin with a simple security system if necessary and upgrade as the budget allows. We can all work together to make this one of the safest countries in the world.
